The Sturgis Horticultural Society hosted another successful show on August 9 with 246 entries by 16 exhibitors from across the local area.
"The annual show had exhibitors 小蓝视频 awarded top points in 16 categories in three different classes of flowers, vegetables, canned goods and junior entries," said Hazel Urbanoski of Sturgis.
The categories included houseplants, outdoor plants, cut flowers, roses, sweet peas, dahlias, gladiolus, floral art, flower arranging, vegetables, fruits, garden crafts, canning and a junior category. All classes in every section offered cash prizes.
Karen Pfeifer of Runnymede had the difficult task of judging the entries in the different categories.
Urbanoski was the high-point winner in the cut flowers category. She was also the overall high-point winner of the show.
Eileen Prestie was the winner in the carnation and sweet pea categories. Prestie was also the high point winner for the vegetable category.
Brenda Brown won the pansy and potato categories.
Lillian Smith won the petunia and canned fruits categories.
Donna Beatty won the rose category.
Elaine Meachem won first place in the lily, tomato and collection of vegetables categories.
Hazel Urbanoski won first place in the dahlia, best African violet and gladiola categories.
Margaret Prekaski won first place in the indoor and outdoor plants category and first in the best photo category.
Elizabeth Prestie won first place in the floral art category and best herb collection category.
Jean Babiuk was the high point winner in the fruit category.
Will Prestie and Jainylle Gagnon were the only children's entries and each received a prize.
In the floral art class there were five categories. Elizabeth Prestie won first place in both the Prairie Pride class and the Echoes of the Past class. Hazel Urbanoski received second place in the Echoes of the Past class and first in the Harmony class. There were no entries in the Down on the Farm class. In the voters choice category, Jean Babiuk won first place.
Elizabeth Prestie won the best floral art display.
