Members of the Norquay Legion presented Sturgis Composite High School students from grades 4 to 9 with certificates in acknowledgement for their entries in the annual Remembrance Day poster and essay contest. The presentation was made at the SCHS on April 12.
Norquay Legion representatives in attendance included: Laura Dahl, Donna Lulashnyk, Rachael Maher, Betty-Lou Skogen, Denise McConnegal, Barb Fraser and Smith Thomson.
Winners in the grades 4-6 black-and-white poster category were: Brynn Babiuk, second place; and Allison Peterson, an honourable mention.
In the poem category, Paige Hansen placed first and Keannu Albarracin received an honorable mention.
In the essay category, Paige Hansen won first place while Sierra Meroniuk placed second.
Winners in the grades 7-8 coloured poster category were: Sierra Meroniuk, first place; Rayanne Westermann, second place; and Kara Pasiechnik, an honourable mention.
In the black-and-white poster category, Seth Rayner placed first, followed by Shanae Olson in second place.
In the poem category, Dylan Tomas placed first and Jewel Howard placed second.
In the grades 7-9 essay category, Dylan Tomas won first and Shae Peterson won second place.
Shanae Olson鈥檚 entry in the black-and-white poster contest went on to the zone level where she received a third-place award for her entry.
