聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 About 100 persons attended the Canora Hospital Auxiliary鈥檚 annual spring tea on Saturday.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The winners of the raffle prizes are as follows: Betty Lamount, First prize $200;聽 Louie Zaislak, second prize of $100; and Derek Senkow, third prize of $75.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 All the baking for the bake sale was provide by the members of the auxiliary and some volunteers, said Lorie Wasyliw, the Auxiliary president.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 For other raffles, prizes were donated by the following: Plum Tree, M&M, Youngs Plant World, Carnation Street, Canora Greenhouse and Chataqua Gardens.
The tea is one of the Auxiliary鈥檚 main fundraisers each year and the funds raised are used to support the hospital and heath care needs in our community, said Lori Wasyliw, Auxiliary president. In addition to the tea/coffee social, funds are also raised through associated raffles and the bake sale.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Going over some of the donations made and projects supported during the Auxliary鈥檚 fiscal year (September 2014 to October 2015) Wasyliw said donations included: $2,000 for the new high definition CT scanner for the Yorkton Regional Health Centre; $2,000 for the STARS (helicopter) ambulance service; the annual $500 scholarship for a Canora Composite School student continuing studies in the health care field (the winner this year was Jessica Palchewich); an $8,277 donation to the Canora Health Care Foundation to furnish a room in the Wellness Centre; and about $600 to furnish a family room in the hospital as requested by Roxanne Rayner Brown, palliative care co-ordinator.
The next major fundraisers will be the October pie-and-coffee social and the annual Christmas Carol Festival held the first Sunday in December.
The Auxiliary was chartered 61 years ago, she said. It was organized in 1948, but due to a lack of activity, it was on a hiatus for a few years. It re-organized in 1955.
