Sixth annual bike rally proved to be another success

The sixth annual Sturgis motorcycle rally weekend kicked off on July 29 with a dance with music that was supplied by James Williams at the Night Train Saloon outdoor stage.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The sixth annual Sturgis motorcycle rally weekend kicked off on July 29 with a dance with music that was supplied by James Williams at the Night Train Saloon outdoor stage. The group gathered at the yard of Ron and Rose Descalchuk, three miles east of Preeceville.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The weekend was another success with the added attraction of a car show-and-shine accompanied later in the day by motorcycle games," said Ron Descalchuk. "We raised approximately $1,100 that was presented to the Yorkton Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

鈥淲e had 22 vehicles entered in the car show and shine,鈥 Descalchuk said. There were also some fun motorcycle games played during the weekend. The highlight was the 380-km motorcycle run that had 50 motorcycles and six vehicles touring through the towns of Kelvington, Tisdale, Archerwill and back to Sturgis.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The car show-and-shine had 22 entries. Bob and Linda Knutson of Sturgis won the peoples鈥 choice award for their 1953 Ford F100. Ron Neiitling of Preeceville won the motorcycle Peoples鈥 Choice award for his 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Other entries included: Patrick Williams of Kelvington with a 1965 Impala; Tom Cursons of Kelvington with a 1964 Chevy SS; Ernie Tertiak of Yorkton with a 1968 Meteor Leymoyne; Bernard Pritchard of Kelvington with a 1965 Impala SS; William Pritchard of Yorkton with a 1970 Monte Carlo; Ken Sharp of Springside with a 1975 Glide; Phil Murrin of Preeceville with a 1969 Chev El Camino; Al Peshko of Invermay with a 1929 Chrysler 70 Rat Rod; Ron Descalchuk with a 1948 Dodge Panel Wagon and a 1985 Pontiac Hearse; Mike Bours of Sturgis with a 2005 FXST Softail motorcycle; Darren Descalchuk of Preeceville with a 1976 Oldsmobile; Ken Kobask of Ituna with a 1973 Gremlin; Kevin Altman of Tisdale with a 1991 Electra Glide Sport, and Keith Bell of Melville with a 2002 Harley.
