Several groups participate in annual fall registration night

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Kamsack residents, especially youngsters keen on becoming involved in various activities this year, met at the Broda Sportsplex mezzanine September 8 when representatives of several groups provided information and accepted registrations to their activities.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Attending the annual fall events registration night were representatives of the Kamsack Family Resource Centre, the karate club, minor hockey, the Music for Young Children program, the Togo Figure Skating Club, the Kamsack air cadets, a new women鈥檚 fitness centre, and two separate yoga groups.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Megan Peters and Andrea Verigin, who provided information on the Kamsack Family Resource Centre, said the evening was progressing 鈥済reat.鈥

Rachel Martenuik and Cindy Hudy, who were at a table to discuss the Kamsack Karate Club and to take registrations, said that the response at their table was really good with a number of 鈥渘ew鈥 children expressing interest in the sport.

鈥淲e expect a fabulous year,鈥 Martenuik said, adding that the instruction will begin at the small gym at the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute in October.

At least 40 per cent of the youngsters that are expected to enroll in the Togo Figure Skating Club this season are from families not living in the community of Togo, said Loretta Erhardt, who was taking registrations. They come from Kamsack, Runnymede and the RM of Cote, in addition to Togo.

鈥淲e have some new families interested,鈥 Erhardt said.

Tracy and Darren Kitsch were taking registrations for two programs, their Music for Young Children piano instruction program, which was to start Monday, and the Music Together program in which youngsters share their growing talents with others, such as residents of Eaglestone Lodge.

鈥淲e have a big returning group,鈥 Darren said, regarding the Music for Young Children program.

Valerie Ritchie and Catherine Maksymetz tended a table accepting registrations for their yoga programs named Valerie Ritchie Yoga and Yoga with Catherine which begin in October. The two women plan to have a one-night joint session called Yoga Girls鈥 Night Out planned for November.

Michael Eliuk, president of Kamsack Minor Hockey, and Julie Gareau, treasurer, were among those tending the registration table for minor hockey.

鈥淗ow鈥檚 it going?鈥 they are asked.

鈥淓xcellent,鈥 Gareau replied, adding that another registration is planned for September 20 at the KCI. 鈥淲e hope to have at least five teams, but we鈥檙e short of players for midget and bantam teams.鈥

Also attending were Karen Bodnaryk, commanding officer of the Kamsack air cadets, and Brittainy Spence of Brittfit Fitness, a new women鈥檚 fitness studio that will be opening in the former K Caf茅 building.
