Special events have been happening in provincial parks this winter, giving everyone the opportunity to have some fun that the whole family will enjoy.
Duck Mountain Provincial Park will be the site of the second annual Winter Carnival on March 14, starting at 8 a.m.
鈥淲e are excited and gearing up for the fun-filled day,鈥 said Greg Podovinnikoff, park superintendent. 鈥淭here are a lot of events planned, starting with a pancake breakfast. Throughout the day there will be skating, tobogganing, downhill tubing at no charge at the Ski Hill, cross-country ski lessons, snowshoes available to try snowshoeing and a scavenger hunt of coloured ice cubes for the young ones to enjoy. There will be more games for the youngsters at St. Michaels Camp.
鈥淎 farmers market will be set up in the Rec Hall, horse-drawn sleigh rides given by the Madge Lake Bible Camp, ice fishing demonstrations, and a perogy supper in the evening at St. Michaels Camp Hall. In addition there will be hot dogs, cocoa and marshmallows available for around the fire.
鈥淭here is so much to enjoy in the park in winter, so we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the day鈥檚 activities. Take a ride on the snowmobile trails, and much more,鈥 he concluded.
