SASKATOON — The City of Saskatoon has recently completed safety upgrades at the intersection of Clarence Avenue and Main Street to enhance the safety of both motorists and pedestrians. The changes were implemented following a comprehensive traffic review conducted by the city.

Last year, concerns about safety at the Clarence Avenue and Main Street intersection were raised by several residents from Nutana and Varsity View neighbourhoods. In response, the City of Saskatoon undertook a Neighbourhood Traffic Review, identifying the need for safety improvements at the intersection.

The modifications include creating dedicated right turn-only lanes for motorists approaching Clarence Avenue on Main Street. As a result, drivers are now required to make a right turn at the intersection, and they are no longer allowed to proceed straight or turn left onto Clarence Avenue.

In addition to the changes for motorists, a new pedestrian signal has been installed on the 小蓝视频 side of Clarence Avenue. This signal enables pedestrians to cross safely on the intersection's North and 小蓝视频 sides. Cyclists on Main Street can activate the pedestrian signals by pushing buttons and retain the ability to cross or turn left onto Clarence Avenue.

To ensure community involvement and gather valuable feedback, an on-site engagement event took place in August 2022, allowing residents to discuss the proposed modifications.

Subsequently, a broader engagement event was held in February 2023 to include public input further. The City Council approved the changes during its March 29 public meeting.
