SASKATOON — Saskatoon will get a spring clean as sweeping crews prepare to hit the streets. Despite the recent snow, city crews have been hard at work sweeping the winter dust from high-traffic streets and business areas. Line painting crews are also on hand to mark lanes and crosswalks.
Residents are reminded to watch for yellow No Parking signs on their streets from May to June and to move their vehicles on sweep day. Neighbourhood priority streets will be swept between May 1-7, with cleaning in 10 affected areas, including Avalon, Dundonald and North Park.
To ensure residents have somewhere to park when moving their cars for sweep day, neighbourhoods are scheduled over a couple of days or the main priority streets are swept first. Sweeping on select streets within 11 neighbourhoods will occur May 1-7, so watch for No Parking signs to avoid getting a ticket.
Neighbourhood residential streets will be swept from May 8, taking seven weeks, weather permitting. When cars have been moved or towed to nearby streets, all roads in the neighbourhood will be swept. Many neighbourhoods will be split in half or thirds to provide alternate on-street parking spaces and ensure that cleaning is completed promptly.
