SASKATOON – A murder suspect is still on the loose eluding police.
Police continue to seek tips on 33-year-old Jonathan Ouellet-Gendron’s whereabouts. He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Brandon Baxandall.
Police found Baxandall deceased behind an apartment building in Saskatoon on May 19.
Police charged and arrested Mohamed Abdula Ali with first-degree murder in Baxandall’s death and Ali remains in custody.
Don’t approach Ouellet-Gendron
Saskatoon Police say they don’t believe Ouellet-Gendron to still be in Saskatoon and have been working with partner agencies across Canada to determine his whereabouts.
“The involved parties to the shooting earlier this year are believed to be known to one another and therefore, we are not of the opinion that there is a risk to members of the general public,” said Joshua Grella, coordinator, public relations and strategic communications for Saskatoon Police Service
Anyone with information on Jonathan Ouellet-Gendron’s whereabouts is asked not to approach him and call 9-1-1 or 306-975-8300. Ouellet-Gendron is believed to be in possession of a firearm.
Anyone wishing to provide information but remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police say Ouellet-Gendron is 5-foot-6 and about 140 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos including a Mayan statue on his right hand, a black rose on his left wrist and a gorilla on his upper torso.
Ouellet-Gendron also faces drug trafficking, weapons charges
Ouellet-Gendron also had a preliminary hearing scheduled in Saskatoon Provincial Court Aug. 8 on numerous charges stemming from 2021. The charges include two drug trafficking offences, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, six weapons-related offences, and six forgery and identity theft offences.
