Saskatoon Police say death of man in fire isn't suspicious

Police and firefighters responded Thursday morning to a structure fire in the 1800 block of Idylwyld Drive North

SASKATOON - The Saskatoon Police Service has concluded the investigation into the discovery of a deceased man following a structure fire this morning.

On Dec. 22, at approximately 5:45 a.m., police and fire responded to the 1800 block of Idylwyld Drive North for a report of a multi-unit commercial structure fire. Fire suppression efforts led to the discovery of a deceased man in the unit of origin.

Members of the Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Section responded to the scene. Investigation has determined the death to be non-suspicious; police will not be releasing the identity of the deceased. An SPS arson investigator has concluded that the fire is non-criminal in nature.

The Saskatoon Fire Department and Saskatchewan Coroners Service have taken carriage of the scene.
