Multi-residential fire:
SASKATOON — Saskatoon authorities are investigating a multi-residential fire on Tuesday, April 11.
The Saskatoon Fire Department and Saskatoon Police Service are working together to determine the cause and origin of the blaze in the 800 block of Confederation Drive.
According to reports, the fire caused an estimated damage of $30,000. The investigation is ongoing, and no cause or origin has been identified yet.
Fortunately, all occupants of the multi-unit structure were safely evacuated. However, one firefighter sustained an injury while rescuing a building occupant and was transported to the hospital for medical attention. The firefighter was later discharged and advised to rest and recover at home.
The SFD received the emergency call at 6:3 a.m. and immediately dispatched three fire engines, one ladder truck, a rescue unit, and the Battalion Chief to the site.
Upon arrival, the first arriving fire crews discovered smoke on the second floor, and incoming firefighters were assigned other tactical duties.
The fire was declared under control at 7:02 a.m. and firefighters began ventilating the structure. The authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
