SASKATOON — Saskatoon firefighters responded to a structure fire on Thursday, Feb. 2, and assisted a single vehicle that rolled over Wednesday night, Feb. 1.
The Saskatoon Fire Department dispatch received the call at 2:45 p.m. of a possible house fire in the 1500 block of Avenue H North.
Utility companies were called to shut down services to keep the scene safe as three fire engines, an aerial apparatus, a rescue truck and battalion chief arrived.
Fire crews found a detached shed on fire and had the occupants evacuate the house as they prepared to put out the blaze.
Firefighters had the fire under control at 3:20 p.m.
In other news, SFD sent two engines, a rescue unit and the battalion chief at 5:38 p.m. to assist in a vehicle that rolled over on Spadina Crescent East.
Fire crews saw an SUV roll onto the driver’s side with the vehicle sitting on top of the plowed snowbank near the intersection of Oxford Street.
A female was inside the vehicle and responding fire crews stabilized the vehicle before successfully extricating her.
SFD is again reminding motorists to do their part in keeping all emergency personnel safe when they are working at an accident scene.
Drivers are asked to reduce vehicle speed and focus on road conditions by obeying perimeters, such as perimeter cones, at accident scenes.
Drivers are also asked to be attentive to the instruction and direction of the emergency personnel directing traffic around the accident.
