SASKATOON — Saskatoon company Ryderz Contracting Inc. pleaded guilty earlier this month for a violation of occupational health and safety guidelines, resulting in a serious workplace injury
The company pleaded guilty in Saskatoon Provincial Court on March 9, to one charge of failing to ensure that material or equipment was stored safely to prevent hazard to workers.
A statement from the provincial government said the charge stemmed from an incident on April 21, 2020 at a Saskatoon worksite, where a worker was seriously injured.
“While loading concrete forms, the form cage tipped over and injured the worker,” said the release.
As a result, Ryderz Contracting Inc. has received a fine of $50,000 and a surcharge of $20,000 for the violation, totalling $70,000.
No further details regarding the incident were supplied.
