Hockey parents and players have been notified by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) board that they have officially canceled all games for the rest of the season due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

鈥淥n behalf of the Saskatchewan Hockey Association board of directors, I would like to advice the SHA membership of the decision of Hockey Canada to cancel all Hockey Canada sanctioned activities including National Championships until further notice effective March 13,鈥 stated Kelly McClintock, general manager.

鈥淭he past few weeks have been difficult as we witness the world react and address COVID-19. We agree with Hockey Canada that the health and safety of everyone connected to all aspects is what our focus needs to be at this time. Therefore, all sanctioned activities with the Saskatchewan Hockey Association must cease for the remainder of the season as of March 13.鈥

Saskatchewan Hockey Association programming in the areas of SHA provincial playoffs, Sask. First Female Futures, Sask. First Female Jamborees and Sask. First Female and Sask. Male Midget tournaments are all cancelled. The SHA staff will make appropriate refunds to families registered for those programs.

鈥淭here will be plans made for those programs that extend into next season and the selection and evaluation of provincial teams, however as we hope you can appreciate, it will take some time to determine how the plans look like given the world's landscape today.

鈥淭his is not a decision that was made lightly, however the health and safety of everyone connected to our sport was paramount in the decision making process,鈥 concluded the release.
