It was an evening of song, dance and a few laughs when the grades 5 and 6 students presented “Santa’s Holiday Hoedown” at the Canora Composite School on December 16.
The storyline was that the North Pole workshop was running out of money and would soon not be able to produce enough toys for every child in the world. In a effort led by the elves, the decision was made to stage a show at Craven and make lots of money.
The elves and the reindeer were joined by Santa and Mrs. Claus in Craven when the show’s structure was assembled. The elves were some how mistaken for an Elvis act, the reindeer pretend they’re horses and a reluctant Santa Claus has to become the main attraction.
The main song titles were: Goin’ to Craven, We’re Not Reindeer, Layin’ It All on the Line, Elves Lives, I Ain’t no Willie Nelson, Will Santa Come Through? and Santa’s Holiday Hoedown.
While the main characters performed on the main stage, just off stage, the rest of the grades 5 and 6 students formed a massive choir which augmented the songs sung on stage.
The two teachers doing most of the directing were Jennifer Sleeva and Leona Kitchen,
The Grade 7 students helped to make the scenery and props.
