The Sadok Ukrainian Dancers will resume lessons in October with a few changes because of COVID-19, said Dawn Krawetz, president of dance group.
Sadok Ukrainian Dance is scheduled to start its new dance season in October, Krawetz said. New regulations because of COVID-19 have been set in place. The dance group will practice every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be an open house and registration night on October 8 at the Kamsack Playhouse theatre. Dancers will register according to age and experience. The dancers range in age from three to 16 years. There are four main groups of dancers: beginners, juniors, intermediates and seniors. Returning for another year as the instructor AnnaLee Parnetta of Kamsack.
Sadok students practice times have changed. Only one group at a time will be permitted in the theatre. Members of other dance groups will be waiting outside the theatre. The dancers will have to follow the one-way traffic set out by the Kamsack Playhouse theatre board when entering and exiting. Hands will be sanitized upon entering and exiting the building and before going on and off the stage. After practice is done and dancers have left, the theatre will be cleaned by a parent from that dance group before the next group may enter the building.
The choreography of each dance will have to be altered. There will be no holding hands or having close contact. Social distancing will be in effect on stage.
When the 2019/2020 dance season was stopped due to COVID-19 in March, the 18 dancers lost 2.5 months of practices, Krawetz explained. The competitions scheduled for April and May in Yorkton and Brandon were cancelled. A Sadok major fundraiser, the 50/50 draw that was to take place in May, was cancelled. The yearend recital scheduled for in May was also cancelled with no yearend photo taken.听
The three fundraisers scheduled for the year will be altered to follow COVID-19 guidelines. They are the Ukrainian basket draw in November, the sale of Watkins products in February and the 50/50 draw in May.
The competition protocol is different this year as well, but dancers will still be able to compete. The Sadok group will dance on their stage but will be videotaped. The performance will then be sent to be judged depending on where the competition is 小蓝视频 held. There will be no traveling to different centres.
