The River Valley Archery Club (RVAC) was “happy with the turnout” at its first anniversary celebration 3D shoot weekend held at the Veregin Rink on March 2 and 3.

The event started with a pancake breakfast on both days.

“We are proud to say we made it through our first year, had a good turnout,” said Scott Green, RVAC club president. “In addition to local shooters, we had members from the All Nations Archery Club of Balcarres, and shooters from Pense and Yorkton.

“Local resident Sandy Bedore made the anniversary cake, and there were hot dogs and hamburgers. Overall the Club has a a successful first year.

“RVAC has been hosting fundraiser wing nights during the season, and will be hosting them again next season.”

Some members of RVAC attended the All Nations Club 3D shoot in Abernathy on March 23 and 24.

“Members of our Club went to Abernathy in support of the Balcarres All Nations Archery Club as some of their members attended our shoot,” said Green.

Winning medals at the All Nations 3D  shoot in Abernathy were: Scott Green, silver and bronze in mens hunter; Lilyanna Quewezance, gold in cub girls; Dustin Cote, bronze in mens recurve, and Amy Cote, silver for womans recurve. Teiryn Cote also participated with the Kamsack Club.

"Our next fundraiser is an upcoming dance and rib/wing night on April 13 at the Veregin Rink,” Green said. “It’s going to be the Spring Fling Wing Ding and Dance with music by D.J. Dallon, and will be a fun time for all ages. The menu will have wings/ribs, burgers, hotdogs and fries, and a ride service will be available.”

All proceeds will go towards insulating the Veregin rink.

RVAC is already planning their first 3D outdoor shoot for July 27 and 28 north of Veregin. The location will have posted signs. A pancake breakfast will start each day. There will be plenty of primitive camping space available at the location. For more information, contact Green or any member of RVAC.
