Preeceville Rocks is a fun community activity that involves everyone from young to old. A rock painting and informational afternoon was held August 24 at the Preeceville Legion Hall. Parents and children joined in the fun of creating and learning about rock painting.
"Everyone loves a scavenger hunt. What if you could participate in one every time you went for a walk in Preeceville?" asked Stacey Strykowski, one of the organizers.
The idea is to decorate rocks or other found items in nature and hide them in various locations to brighten someone's day.
Participants can use paint, chalk, crayons, sharpies, or whatever; as long as it has a coat of sealer over it to help preserve the art, said the information at the Facebook website.
Participants are encouraged to write in Sharpie on the backs of the rocks and post a picture to the Facebook Page 鈥淧reeceville Rocks鈥 or write 鈥淩e-Hide Me.鈥 This is meant to be fun for everyone of all ages and abilities. Get creative and get outside, said the information.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a neat surprise for our community,鈥 said Strykowski. 鈥淧aint a rock and apply a sealant for outdoor use. And hide it somewhere in or around town.
鈥淥n the back write 鈥淧reeceville Rocks鈥. That way if someone finds it, they can log on to the Facebook page and submit a pic of the hiding spot. Rocks can be hidden anywhere. You can either find it and keep it or re-hide it or leave for another person to find. It鈥檚 a year-long activity for people of any age,鈥 stated Strykowski.
