SARM鈥檚 (Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities) 115th Annual Convention took place from March 9 to 12 at Evraz Place in Regina.
The RM of Cote was represented by Sherry Guenther (administrator), Jim Tomochko (reeve) and Ralph Hilderman, Kim Pennell and Craig Salahub (councillors).
Opening ceremonies were held on March 10. Lori Carr, minister of government relations addressed the delegates, followed by an address by Michael Fougere, mayor of Regina.
Ray Orb, SARM president, spoke just before noon, followed by an address from Andrew Scheer, leader of the Canadian Conservative Party and the official opposition.
In the afternoon were two dialogues sessions with provincial cabinet ministers, and a debate about the submitted resolutions.
On March 11, Scott Moe, premier, addressed the attendees in the morning, followed by the Bear Pit session with the provincial cabinet, a panel to talk about rural broadband, and keynote speaker Claude Elliot, retired mayor of Gander, N.L.
The final day of the convention, began with the financial report presented by Jay Meyer, SARM executive director. Dr. Ryan Meili, leader of the opposition, was to give an address, followed by presentations from the RCMP, a 4-H Youth Panel and STARS, to conclude the convention.
Over the course of four days, convention delegates had the opportunity to hear from and dialogue with elected officials, attend workshops, network and debate resolutions.
