聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack now has access to a much-newer Zamboni ice re-surfacer thanks to a donation from Richardson Pioneer.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jack Blahut, area marketing representative for Richardson Pioneer, presented a cheque of $25,000 from the company鈥檚 foundation to the Town of Kamsack on October 13 to help pay for the machine which arrived in the community in mid-September.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A 2007 model, the Zamboni has worked for only 2,700 hours, and replaces a 1990-model Zamboni.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Zamboni cost a total of $30,000, said Kev Sumner, Kamsack鈥檚 recreation director. Its previous owner was the City of Regina.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Kamsack鈥檚 old Zamboni is for sale through Fermarc, a Regina company that is known to be a Zamboni specialist.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Councillor Mark Foster, who as a rink caretaker operates the Zamboni, said that among the new machine鈥檚 attributes are a tire wash system, a pre-wash system that cleans the dirt and debris in front of the blade, and the fact that its switches are all automatic.
