The Remembrance Day service in Rama began at St. Anthony鈥檚 Roman Catholic Church with a special mass to pray for those who served Canada, fighting for freedom.

In his homily, Rev. Marcin Mironiuk stated how each war begins because of "sin." He reflected on how fortunate people are to live in a peaceful country, stating "We don't need to worry about opening our back door to see tanks moving about or hearing the sound of gunshots." He concluded that it is in thanks to the men and women who have sacrificed their lives so that we can have peace and that in remembering them, we should also pray for them.鈥

聽Following Mass, all gathered at the cenotaph in The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes where the service continued. After the singing of O Canada, Lorne Sliva lowered the flag to half-mast and read the names of the fallen soldiers. All stood in silence as The Last Post and Reveille were played by bugler Royce Knight.

Wreaths were placed by Elaine Olson on behalf of Canada; Louis Swiderski on behalf of war veterans, (his uncle Louis Swiderski was killed in battle in the Second World War); Mayor Darrell Dutchak on behalf of the village; Eddie Yasinski on behalf of the Knights of Columbus; Leonard Pasloski on behalf of St. Anthony's Parish; and Bev Whyatt on behalf of the RM of Invermay.

Rev. Marcin led in The Lord's Prayer. After the closing hymn, Amazing Grace all were invited to a luncheon at The Rama Golden Jets Centre where a hot lunch was served by the Rama Golden Jets Club members.
