The Town of Preeceville recreation department has been keeping busy planning and overseeing numerous activities for residents in Preeceville and around the surrounding area to enjoy.
Andrea Tonn is the Town of Preeceville recreation director who planned and organized the events.
"With fall season here, we are planning on a fun corn maze east of Town," said Tonn. "The corn is a little shorter than usual but we will incorporate a scavenger hunt theme into the maze to make it fun. The design is currently 小蓝视频 cut into the maze and there is a new entrance this year due to the construction going on at the previous entrance," she said.
Another event 小蓝视频 planned is culture day on September 27.at the Preeceville Community Legion Hall. The culture day will feature many cultures from the area, a fashion show, workshops and entertainment through the day.
For the Halloween season, a haunted forest scare night will be held October 19 that will include a walk through the forest at Annie Laurie Lake with volunteers dressed up in scary costumes jumping out at those who walk along the trail.
"Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult during the haunted forest," said Tonn.听
A fun pumpkin walk and hay ride geared towards the younger children will follow the next day on October 20.
鈥淭he Preeceville Arena wheat fundraiser crop is scheduled to be harvested as soon as possible with proceeds going towards the bicycle and skate park. The park is a long term project that will be an asset for the community,鈥 stated Tonn.
In April, the recreation department and Town of Preeceville kicked off a volunteer appreciation award given monthly to deserving and dedicated volunteers of the community. Community members are nominated each month and the winners selected through the list of nominees. Winners were: Maureen Johnson and Sheila Klebeck, April; Zita Serhan, May; Charles Goossen, June; Norman Johnson, July and Willie Jakubowski and Company, August. Each winner received a gift of appreciation.
"We have started a business appreciation breakfast with one business in the month who has supported activities in the Town receiving a hand-delivered breakfast in show of our appreciation," said Tonn.
Over the summer there was a movie-themed day on every Thursday which was supported by local businesses.
鈥淒uring the Christmas season we will be sponsoring a skate with Santa day and a Christmas holiday spirit event that will focus on promoting the Christmas spirit through decorative displays. This year I want to extend the promotion to feature themed streets,鈥 said Tonn.
The Preeceville Arena is also scheduled to begin operation with the ice making plant starting up on October 21. There is a free skate 小蓝视频 planned to follow the arrival of the ice.
