Owen Myhr of the Preeceville Wildlife Federation was acknowledged for his dedication and hard work within the Preeceville Club. Myhr received the Clayton Young Memorial Award for Region 3 during the SWF annual virtual convention held in February.
The award is presented to an individual whose volunteerism has had a profound positive influence towards fulfilling the Federation鈥檚 mission statement: 鈥渢o ensure the wildlife legacy we leave to our children surpasses that which we inherited.鈥
Myhr is an active club member currently in the executive role as president of the Preeceville Wildlife Federation, and has been for many years with no opposition. "He does a great job and is always very supportive of club projects and initiatives," stated the award information.
Owen has served on the club executive in various positions for over 25 years. He and his wife Rita can always be counted on to lend a hand with various projects. Owen is the first to offer equipment and even buildings to help save the club funding to get the job done. He enjoys helping with the Firearm Safety Program and taught safe gun handling to some of the club鈥檚 young executive members. Owen is very supportive of Habitat Trust, and likes to see unfarmed bush lands saved for future generations. He is also very active with membership and promoting the local club and SWF to younger members, which include his children who are also active members and can be counted on to lend a hand for wildlife projects.
These qualities all fulfill the Federation鈥檚 mission statement, 鈥渢o ensure the wildlife legacy we leave to our children surpasses that which we inherited.鈥
