Preeceville staff welcomes students for new school year

The Preeceville School staff and administration were busy on August 30, preparing to welcome students back for another school term prior to the first day of school.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Preeceville School staff and administration were busy on August 30, preparing to welcome students back for another school term prior to the first day of school.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There are no reported changes to the staff except for Lindy Steppan and Reneye Scheller who will join the staff as education assistants. Laura Chartrand, who was the Grade 1 teacher in the 2016 to 2017 season, has moved over to teach at Norquay School.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 This year the Preeceville School will see the Grade 1 class combined into one classroom. There are no interns scheduled for this year.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Doug King is the principal; Kent Seerey, vice-principal, and Laura Sliva works in office administration.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Sharon Bileski is library technician and Marilyn Johannesson and Patricia Wiwcharuk are the caretakers.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Teachers on staff are: Laura Antonichuk, Les DeRuiter, Sarah DeRuiter, William Dodge, Calla Erickson, Cary Franklin, Donna Hamilton, Leslea Hanson, Sheila Klebeck, Tonilee Lario, Bonnie Lisitza, Alicia Longman, Meghan Blender, Heidi Paterson, Arlene Prestie, Allyson Rock and Erin Stolar.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Educational assistants are: Merle Townsend, Lindy Steppan, Reneye Scheller, Denise Olson, Ivy Krauss, Lisa Guliak and Brittany Balawyder.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The school has received multiple upgrades over the past several years, which means we didn't have to do any upgrades," said Doug King.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The focus for the school is to set a positive environment for reading and on student growth in all areas from physical to emotional.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Through the help of the Town of Preeceville which donated $3,000, and Murray Stroeder who donated $1,000, the school will be able to purchase of a new score clock for the gym. Stroeder had received a driver safety award and selected Preeceville School as the facility to which his award is to be donated.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "Sports teams are preparing to start up and some of the events scheduled are a back to school barbecue on September 15, and a fun-day organized by the Student Representative Council and the magazine campaign," said King.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Rachael Kashuba will be responsible for providing hot noon hour lunches for students in the school鈥檚 servery.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Members of the Student Representative Council include Britney Vewchar, president; Kaylee Walker, vice-president; Kiera Balyski, secretary; Emma Covlin and Shanae Shewchuk, co-treasurers; Haylee Delawski and Jasmine Knihniski, publicists; Brady Kashuba, communications; Meghan and Makenna Petryshyn, female sports representatives, and Zachary Sorgen, male sports representative.
