The Preeceville School staff and administration were busy preparing to welcome back students for another school season on August 30 prior to the first day of school. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 10 are scheduled to start classes on September 4 and Grade 11 and 12 students are scheduled to begin on September 5.
The school welcomed five new staff members: Kipp Bayer, vice-principal; Dallas Burym, teacher; Kelly Dierker, teacher; Allyson Grywacheski, teacher and Kaylyn Kowch, teacher.
Other staff members include: Laura Sliva, administrative assistant; Doug King, principal; Laurie Antonichuk, William Dodge, Calla Erickson, Cary Franklin, Donna Hamilton, Leslea Hanson, Tonilee (nee Sefton) Lario, Alicia Longman, Heidi Paterson, Arlene Prestie, Allyson Rock, Nathan Seghers and Erin Stolar, all teachers.
Sharon Bileski is library technician and Marilyn Johannesson and Patricia Wiwcharuk are caretakers.
Educational assistants will include: Levi Young, Brittany Balawyder, Lisa Guliak, Ivy Krauss, Denise Olson, Lindy Steppan and Renaye Scheller.
"Students will see a change to the elementary classrooms with new lockers and cupboards installed," said King. "The Grade 12 homeroom also received new flooring. We are working on some new programming that will help provide additional support for time management, study skills, with attention also on providing programming for Grade 12 students who would like to take their first year university class in English or for students who want to enroll in a trade school.
"We are all looking forward to a new school season with new people and new ideas," concluded King.
Events and activities coming up for the school include: a back to school barbeque on September 14; magazine sales will kick off on October 2 and the Terry Fox Run will be held in late September.
The football program kicked off with a fall camp on August 27. The senior girls volleyball team has entered into a co-operative agreement with Invermay School.
