聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Bob Lumley rink of Norquay won the Preeceville senior bonspiel held at the Preeceville Curling rink from January 10 to 13.
Team members included Joy Hubic, Donna Lumley and Jane Perepeluk. Brian Hubic spared for Perepeluk on the final day of curling.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Curlers received points for each win and tie and each end scored.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "There were a total of 16 rinks entered in the four-day bonspiel.
"Seven of the teams were from Preeceville," said Joe Yacyshyn, organizer. "Four teams were from Norquay, three teams were from Canora, and the other two teams were from each of Endeavour and Sturgis.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The Lumley rink registered 70 points over the four games that they played," he said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Lou Roste rink of Preeceville with team members Lynn Ager, Metro Chornomitz and Joanne Boechler recorded a total of 69 points to win second place.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Ralph Ager rink of Preeceville recorded 60 points to win third place. Team members included Darryl Hanson, Wayne Preston and Stella Gulka.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Les Braithwaite rink of Preeceville with team members Phil Murrin, Earl Pottle and Pattie Shermet tied for fourth with the Arnie Makowsky rink of Canora, with team members Mike Spelay and Darryl and Vickie Stevenson. Each team recorded a total of 57 points.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Other teams entered were skipped by Eugene Gulka, Don Kurulak, Bob Lebo, Art Boyd, Kevin Cook, Gail Peterson, Larry Dahl, Ted Kreklewitz, Sharon Naclia, Bill Foreman and Ron Hoehn.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "This 16-team entry for the Preeceville senior bonspiel marked the highest entry for the bonspiel in recent memory," said Yacyshyn, who was the drawmaster. Yacyshyn and Roy Fairburn were the entry takers.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Dennis Osatiuk was responsible for collecting the fees and distributing the cash prize payouts. Mary Pasiechnik and Stella Gulka operated the kitchen. Ralph Ager supplied and organized the bar workers. Bob Lebo was in charge of the 50/50 draws.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "Many other club members contributed in various ways," he said. "A special thank you goes to individuals who contributed pies and pots of soup for the soup-and-sandwich lunches."
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Senior curlers are encouraged to attend the senior bonspiels in the local area of Canora, Sturgis, Endeavour and Norquay.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The club is hoping to interest more curlers by running a "pay as you go" program on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Preeceville. Details can be obtained from Yacyshyn.
