The harvest has begun for the canola fundraiser crop for the Preeceville Richardson Pioneer Skating Arena.

鈥淭yler Peniuk and Steven Mclean started in the early morning hours on September 6 when it was dewy to help prevent the canola from shelling out,鈥 stated Andrea Tonn, Town of Preeceville recreation director.

Sheldon Wallin helped organize some of the donations. Swathing was donated by Peniuk Farms. 鈥淧attison Ag, which has been a great supporter, will be combining the canola where it will be sold and hauled to the Louis Dreyfus canola crushing plant in Yorkton. The seed was donated by Boyd Ellis from Dow AgroSciences, Derrick Stykalo donated Proline fungicide and Nutrien Ag Solutions provided the fertilizer,鈥 said Tonn.
鈥淭his is the third year for Preeceville Arena Board crop fundraiser. We have been very fortunate to have many organizations and individuals help us raise funds for various projects at the arena.

鈥淭he donation of the land by Hoterra farms has been beneficial to the arena and we are very grateful to everyone who has helped us with this project,鈥 concluded Tonn.
