The Outlook has obtained the minutes of the July 10 regular meeting of Outlook鈥檚 town council, as well as the minutes of the July 17 Recreation Committee meeting.
The following are highlighted motions that had been made at those meetings, including any motions made after council exited in-camera discussions, which are closed to the public.
July 10 Regular Meeting
Promotional Items:
495/19 鈥 Grotheim/Childerhose:聽 That we order forty-eight (48) vacuum tumblers from Ad-Vise Graphics at an approximate cost of one thousand one hundred and twenty-four dollars and sixteen cents ($1,124.16) plus applicable taxes to be used as promotional items.聽 Carried.
Broderick Garden Centre Lease:
497/19 鈥 Grotheim/Applin:聽 That we acknowledge the counter-offer from Broderick Garden Centre regarding the lease of a 100鈥 frontage by 鈥160 depth parcel of Block A, Plan G39, and further that we stay with the original resolution (Res. 307/19) at an annual lease rate of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) for the lot 鈥渁s is鈥 and further add to the lease terms that 鈥渢he lessee must return the property to the Town upon termination of the lease as they found it鈥.聽 Carried.
Lot 5, Block MM, Plan 101851499 Drainage:
499/19 鈥 Grotheim/McLeod:聽 That we proceed with the installation of a concrete swale in place of the current ditch located on the 小蓝视频 side of Lot 5, Block MM, Plan 101851499 as per the recommendation from Associated Engineering at an approximate cost of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00).聽 Carried.
Cottage #5 Furnishings:
514/19 鈥 McLeod/Grotheim:聽 That we purchase minimal furnishings and kitchen supplies for cottage #5 up to five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) and further authorize Mayor Derdall and Councillor Applin to make the purchases on the Town鈥檚 credit card.聽 Carried.
July 17 Rec Committee Meeting
2. Bowling Alley 鈥 Linda Schroeder has resigned as the bowling alley manager effective August 23, 2019.聽 Her family is moving to Saskatoon so cannot fulfill the role anymore.聽 Jordy would like to advertise the position after asking some people if they have interest.聽 Committee talked about establishing hours for the winter season and trying to start leagues again.聽 Will bring it back to the Committee in August.
3. Rodeo Requests 鈥 Rodeo has sent 2 letters to council now requesting use of the bleachers and picnic tables.聽 Jordy noted that there are currently 4 outdoor bleachers and 8 brand new picnic tables.聽 Committee noted they do not want to offer out the picnic tables as those were purchased to be used at the sportsgrounds.聽 They also established a rate for the bleachers at $50 per bleacher per day.聽 There will also be a damage deposit of $250 per bleacher per event.聽 Renters would be responsible for pick up and return.
4. Pool Updates 鈥 Jordy noted that they need a few more signs to convey pool rules.聽 Councillor Grotheim offered the idea to get signage on the roadways into Town as well.聽 Jordy will bring back to Council for decision.
8. Potato Festival 2020 鈥 Jordy and Donna will meet to discuss and source volunteers.
9. Kitchen 鈥 Jordy and Rachel prepared a forecasting of budget for the season.聽 Plans are for a 35-hr week with some established hours during the week from 4:00 pm 鈥 8:00 pm and games on weekends.
10. Budget 鈥 Add boiler reserve and Zamboni Reserve to budget if end of year surplus.聽 $25,000 towards boiler and $15,000 towards Zamboni.
11. Civic Centre 鈥 Councillor Grotheim brought forward concerns about cleanliness and temperature control.聽 We need to establish an instruction sheet for temperature adjustments and a plan for cleaning.聽 Committee will review past complaints and do up a job description and plan for cleaning.聽 Will become a weekly task list.
