Things were all set up for the community of Outlook to enjoy a fireworks display on the evening of Saturday, September 5 behind the Jim Kook Rec Plex.
Then Mother Nature apparently had other plans.
Unfortunately, the Outlook Fire Department had to make the call to cancel the pyrotechnics virtually at the last minute, said to be due to incoming winds that night and coupled with the already-dry conditions in the area.
At an Outlook town council meeting last week, the idea of rescheduling the fireworks was brought up and a number of alternate dates were discussed.
Thanksgiving long weekend was one option brought forward, as was New Year’s Eve, which council thought was a neat idea as it was said that almost nothing gets planned for New Year’s events anymore. As well, there was a suggestion of possibly holding the fireworks in conjunction with the annual Santa Claus Day events in early December.
It’s unclear right now whether the fireworks – which were originally postponed from July 1 – will officially be rescheduled again to later this year or if people will simply have to wait until next year’s Canada Day.
