The Government of Saskatchewan removed the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) from feminine hygiene products, effective July 1.
This follows the federal government鈥檚 recently-announced GST exemption for tampons, sanitary belts and napkins and menstrual cups. The federal exemption will also take effect the beginning of July.
鈥淥ur government believes that removing the sales tax from these products is the right thing to do,鈥 Finance Minister Kevin Doherty said.
To finalize this change, a retroactive legislative amendment to The Provincial Sales Tax Act will be introduced in the fall sitting of the provincial Legislature.
鈥淥ur government has a record of keeping taxes low and 小蓝视频 tax competitive with other jurisdictions,鈥 Doherty said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e also committed to maintaining a fair and sustainable tax base, along with ensuring that tax revenue is spent wisely on behalf of all Saskatchewan people.鈥
Since 2007, Saskatchewan people have benefitted from the largest income tax cuts and the largest education property tax cuts in the province鈥檚 history.
