Returning principal Jonas Cote welcomed around 160 students and 28teaching and support staff members to the Chief Gabriel Cote Education Complex (CGCEC) for the 2019-20 school year.
A man who loves 鈥渁ll sports,鈥� but is especially fond of the Colorado Avalanche hockey team, is the school鈥檚 new Grade 4 teacher.
Dustin Gamble of Beardy鈥檚 First Nation (FN), having obtained a bachelor of education degree from the U of S (University of Saskatchewan), began his first year of teaching this fall.
鈥淚 graduated Grade 12 from this school in 2005, so this area is home to me,鈥� he said, adding that 鈥渋t鈥檚 nice to be back here.鈥�
Gamble completed his internship at CGCEC last year. 鈥淚鈥檝e always wanted to be a teacher,鈥� he said, adding that teaching is a profession that runs in his family
Together with his girlfriend, Jessica Cote, the couple have four children: sons DJ (13), Dwayne (13) Nariko (10) and Stefan (8).
Gamble coaches the Cote novice hockey team and is anxious for the hockey season to get underway.
