Returning principal Jonas Cote welcomed around 160 students and 28teaching and support staff members to the Chief Gabriel Cote Education Complex (CGCEC) for the 2019-20 school year.
A man who loves 鈥渁ll sports,鈥 but is especially fond of the Colorado Avalanche hockey team, is the school鈥檚 new Grade 4 teacher.
Dustin Gamble of Beardy鈥檚 First Nation (FN), having obtained a bachelor of education degree from the U of S (University of Saskatchewan), began his first year of teaching this fall.
鈥淚 graduated Grade 12 from this school in 2005, so this area is home to me,鈥 he said, adding that 鈥渋t鈥檚 nice to be back here.鈥
Gamble completed his internship at CGCEC last year. 鈥淚鈥檝e always wanted to be a teacher,鈥 he said, adding that teaching is a profession that runs in his family
Together with his girlfriend, Jessica Cote, the couple have four children: sons DJ (13), Dwayne (13) Nariko (10) and Stefan (8).
Gamble coaches the Cote novice hockey team and is anxious for the hockey season to get underway.
