A byelection was held on September 25 to fill a seat on Town Council left vacant when Jared Ruf resigned in July.
The position, a one-year term which will be up for re-election in 2020, went to successful candidate Karen Tourangeau who received 132 votes. The opposing candidate, Tim Derwores, received 99 votes of the 231 votes tabulated. There were no objections, spoiled or rejected ballots according to a release from the Town of Kamsack.
It was said that Tourangeau is the 鈥渇irst First Nation woman to be elected to Town Council."
