SASKATOON — The Saskatchewan NDP have their candidate in place for the upcoming Saskatoon Meewasin byelection.

Nathaniel Teed was nominated by NDP members who voted at a contested nomination meeting on Wednesday evening.

According to the party's news release, Teed is a small business owner, an arts fundraiser and a former educator. He lives in Saskatoon with his partner James, with whom he owns and operates the downtown furniture and design store Area Home + Lifestyle.

“I’m humbled to have received the support from our members and excited to hit the ground running,” said Teed in a statement. “I believe in the potential of this province. I’ve seen it firsthand. We have so much opportunity here in Saskatchewan, we just need a government that recognizes the need to build our communities and energize our economy.”

“I am so excited that an experienced leader like Nathaniel is joining our team in Saskatoon Meewasin,” said NDP Leader Carla Beck in a news release. “It’s clear that he has energized folks here in the riding and has new ideas and policies to help build a Saskatchewan that works for this generation and the next. With his proven track record, I know he’ll work tirelessly for the people of Saskatoon Meewasin, and I can’t wait to hit the doors with him so we can elect an 小蓝视频 that stands for the people of this riding.”

The byelection is to be held to replace NDP leader Ryan Meili, who officially resigned his Saskatoon Meewasin seat at the end of the spring session of the legislature. A date for the byelection has not been set.
