It appears as if the Milden Hotel may want to fight another series of fines levied against them recently for COVID-related matters.
The establishment was revealed to have received a second fine of $14,000 in late March, as per the provincial government鈥檚 daily COVID-19 updates.聽 This follows the first fine of $14,000 the bar received back in December.
The COVID-19 update also shared the news that a fine of $2,800 was issued to someone who had failed to comply with the public health order.聽 That person, as revealed on the Facebook page of the Milden Hotel, was Donna Olson.聽 She posted on the business鈥檚 page, 鈥淎fter 67 years with no fines for anything... well today I got my first one. I got a $2800 fine for not wearing a face mask. They said my exemption card is not good enough for the health inspectors. And I was the only one in the bar.鈥
The owner of the Milden Hotel, Christine Brown, posted a video on the night of April 7 of the visit from RCMP to the establishment.聽 Brown can be heard saying, 鈥淩ebel Media will be helping us out with all of this.聽 Our lawyer will be looking after it.鈥
As reported previously by The Outlook, the Ontario-based media company known as Rebel Media has offered to take on the Milden Hotel鈥檚 case in fighting the fines in court.
The Milden Hotel was on the books to appear in an Outlook courtroom on Thursday, April 15 in order to address the first $14,000 fine from December.
