Meet and Greet welcomed by Sturgis voters

The candidates all vying for a spot on town council had the opportunity to speak up and gain voter support through a meet and greet evening.

STURGIS - A meet and greet evening promoting the candidates for Town of Sturgis, who are running for a spot on council, was held at the Sturgis Community Hall on Nov. 6 with Rob Wilcott as master of ceremonies.

Each of the 11 candidates running for council and the two candidates who are seeking election in the mayor race had the opportunity to tell approximately 180 taxpayers who were in attendance a little about themselves and what has inspired them to run for council. After the introduction, all candidates were available to meet, answer questions and listen to suggestions from those residents in attendance.

Coffee and cookies were served at the conclusion of the evening.

Candidates in attendance were Carol Smith, Michael Yaremchuk, Nathan Seghers, Jeff Chupik, Mark Nickel, Tecia Fincaryk, Jacquie Christopherson, Kim McLeod, Daniel Wasylenchuk and Chad Rose. Candidate Perry Keller was unavailable to attend the meeting. Dean Harris and Randy Sommeville squared off for the mayor position.
