Mayor Garth Harris discusses a new vision for a new year

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "With the new council taking the oaths of office, we are shifting the focus for the Town of Preeceville in a new vision," said Harris. 鈥淲e want to do less work and reduce committees but focus on the quality of work required.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 鈥淭he biggest change features a committee plan, which focuses on development of the sub-division, senior housing and an open door policy.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The aging sewer and water infrastructure needs attention with the water treatment plant having reached its end of life," said Harris. "We have the only one left of its kind in the province. The continued plan for the future involves a 10-year plan that requires us to show that we as a town are committed to growing in the future. The growth will allow us to get grants to help us along with the project. The cost is approximately three to 10 million dollars.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Other topics he focused on included doctor housing, saying that the Town purchased one house that it rents to the new doctor. There is no major equipment that requires to be purchased.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The main street program will hopefully see a revitalizing of the business sector," he said. "We want to put it back into the businesses鈥 hands and let the business owners lead the change.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "We also want to focus on the senior population and housing that will help make the transition easier for them,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e have a low crime rate that helps attract new families to the area.鈥
