Providing families with a clear vision for the future is what wealth management is all about, says Glenn Dutchak, who opened the 20Twenty Wealth Management Canora branch at 213 Main Street at the beginning of September.
When people begin planning for retirement or are just starting out, they need to turn to a certified financial planner, he said. Gone are the days when people could build a retirement nest egg based on Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GIC), which used to produce double digit interest returns. There are many products, services and plans available, but it takes an experienced professional to produce individualized plans that focus on each individual鈥檚 circumstances.
When it comes to investing, customers need to have trust in their financial planner and Dutchak said that is exactly what his connection with the community provides. He has been in the financial services industry for 18 years of which the last eight were as a certified financial planner. He grew up in the community, raised a family here and he understands the people and their financial needs.
Building a client-centred practice is very important to Dutchak because when his clients succeed, he succeeds. 鈥淟arge financial institutions are too focussed on profit and forget about the needs of their clients.鈥
When he recently resigned from Credential Financial Strategies, he decided that his focus would be his clients. He checked out and interviewed a number of investment dealers before he decided to join forces with Investia Financial Services Inc., a national fund dealer, of which 20Twenty Wealth Management is a branch.
鈥淭he benefits of this partnership are many,鈥 he said. Client friendly services help clients better understand their investments. Through this organization he has the freedom and access to choose product solutions that are right for clients and their families.听 Dutchak takes the complex world of investing and makes it simple and easy for clients to understand.
This model enables Dutchak to provide unbiased financial and planning advice. 鈥淭here is no charge for financial and retirement income planning,鈥 he said.
There is no charge for advice, he said. When people are planning for their financial futures, they need to know their options. As a certified financial planner, Dutchak said he works with accountants and other professionals to make sure the clients鈥 needs are met and to minimize or avoid any tax issues.
听There is a lot of misinformation out there and people need to know how to best invest their money, he said. Individuals should feel at ease when it comes to their finances. Getting the correct information and advice should be step one.

鈥淭he simple answer to all these questions is to consult a financial planner,鈥 Dutchak said. 鈥淚 make the complex 鈥 simple.鈥
With a lifelong connection to Canora and the area, Dutchak said he has built many great relationships over the years and he looks forward to building more in the future.
鈥淭he investment world has changed over the past 18 years,鈥 he said. 鈥淚nvesting for the future is far more complex today and families need the advice of an expert to look after their hard-earned money. I look forward to seeing all my acquaintances and friends and invite them to stop by to see the 20Twenty difference.鈥
Dutchak and his wife, Carlene, a retired educator, have two grown children: Paige who is a optometric assistant in Humboldt and Reid, a heavy equipment operator with G.W. Construction.
