Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý The largest pumpkin topped the scales at 100 pounds during the Preeceville largest vegetable contest at the Preeceville Legion Hall on September 23.
Cayden and Jordyn Worobetz of Preeceville brought in the pumpkin to be weighed by Maureen Johnson.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The contest was open to everyone in the Preeceville trading area. Every entry had to be accompanied by a proof of purchase receipt from any Preeceville business.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Categories included: pumpkin, potato, cabbage, zucchini, onion, carrot, turnip and beet. There was a children's category that featured a creative display of animals or creatures using vegetables.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The top great pumpkin prize was $75 with the second-place winner with $50. The heaviest item in the other categories each won $50 for first and $25 for second. Each child who brought in a display won $10 in cash.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý There was a barbecue lunch with corn on the cob and refreshments during the contest.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Megan Maier had a booth selling honey from Prairie Flavours Ranch. Sherry Joanette displayed her crocheted items and Dianne Mateush sold baking.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý There were five entries in the pumpkin category: Cayden and Jordyn Worobetz brought the heaviest pumpkin that weighed 100 lbs. Tom Babchishin won second with his entry of 96.5 lbs.
Other gardeners who brought in pumpkins to be weighed were: Wyatt Mastrachuk, 49.9 lbs.; Levi Maier, 48.05 lbs; and Will Prestie, 29 lbs.

Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý In the cabbage category, Susan Serhan won first for her entry which weighed 15. 8 lbs. and Caroline Strykowski won second place with her entry of 14.05 lbs.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý In the turnip category, Harvey Wolowski won first place with his entry that weighed, 7.9 lbs. and Wyatt Mastrachuk won second for his entry, 2.1 lbs.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý In the potato category, Cheryl Walker won first place for her entry of 3.6 lbs.; second place was won by Toni Chornomitz for her entry, 3.3 lbs. Other entries were by Ed and Esther Prystay, 2.13 lbs; Carter Scheller, 2.5 lbs; Harry Wolowski, 2.14 lbs; Mary Pasiechnik, 2.14 lbs; Jackie Blotski, 3.01 lbs and Mary Palagian, 1.11 pounds.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý In the beet category, Wyatt Mastrachuk won first place for a beet weighing 8.13 lbs. and Bev Kowalchuk won second place for a beet of 7.09 lbs. Other entries were by: Wyatt Scheller, 4.7 lbs; Jillian Tonn, 3.11 lbs; Judy Schur, 1.15 lbs; Isaiah Maier, 2.0 lbs. and Toni Chornomitz, 5.06 lbs.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý In the zucchini category, Susan Serhan won first place for her entry that weighed 12 lbs. and Toni Chornomitz won second for her entry of 10.1 lbs. Other entries were by: Vicki Peet, 8.9 lbs; Marg Bodnar, 8.56 lbs; Wyatt Scheller, 10.02 lbs; Jodi Mastrachuk, 7.14 lbs. and Mary Pasiechnik, 8.15 lbs.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Honourable mentions went to Elsie Luciw and Bonnie Cyre for tomatoes and Elsie Luciw for cucumber.
