Kamsack Comprehensive Institute (KCI) was overrun with a crowd of costumed fun seekers during the KCI Fun Night graduating class fundraiser on October 24.

The theme for this year’s event was “Spookarama.” Members of the graduating class manned “game stations” where tickets could be redeemed to play games and win prizes. There was also face painting, cupcake decorating, and a very popular and frightening thrill area appropriately named “The Doctor’s Slaughterhouse.”

Attendees had been encouraged to arrive at the event in costume, and there were costumes of every kind imaginable from zombies and spacemen to princesses and monsters.

“We strive to have something for all ages at the Fun Night fundraiser,” said Alexis McGonigal, senior English teacher at KCI and prime organizer of the event for the third year in a row. “We wanted a scary theme this year, so it made sense to go with “Spookarama” and a Halloween twist.”

Among the various booths set up, one could have a photo taken at a spooky photo booth, go “Zombie fishing,” spin the “Wheel of Misfortune,” “Pin the Tie on the Clown,” navigate a “Death Run,” and even take a try at scoring a goal in “Poltergeist Penalty Shot.”

There were hotdogs and popcorn, lots of candy and most of all, “scary fun!”

One of the attractions, the “Doctor’s Slaughterhouse” had long lines of thrill seekers waiting to pas through to view corpses come to life and other frightful happenings.

Savannah Zielinski, Grade 12, was one of the operators of the face painting booth. She was elaborately painted as a “skeleton.”

A raffle table containing many donated prizes was also a popular spot, and 50/50 tickets were sold.
