Recently a new electronics business opened its door in Kamsack in what was once the Saskatchewan Liquor Board Store on Nykolaishen Drive.
鈥淲e saw a need in the community for a bricks and mortar facility that would provide cellular phone services,鈥 said Chris Nykolaishen, an owner. 鈥淲e used to own the SaskTel store in Kamsack, but since it was pulled from the community there was an existing gap.鈥
Nykolaishen Holdings and Raymond Reibin formed a partnership and opened Kamtronics, holding a grand opening celebration on October 26.
The business has three fulltime employees, and is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The store is a Source dealer, known as an 鈥淓xpress Store鈥 and is able to bring in any products a corporate store can carry.
鈥淎nother good feature is that clients may order any Source product online and have it shipped to the store in Kamsack for pickup,鈥 said Nykolaishen.
鈥淲e are pleased to be offering phone plans from Bell, Virgin and Lucky Mobile,鈥 he said. 鈥淏oth Bell and Virgin offer competitive pricing with SaskTel but with no drop in coverage within Saskatchewan. There is also a convenient top-up option for clients travelling to the U.S. so there are no nasty overage charges incurred while travelling.
鈥淟ucky is a pre-pay phone plan that offers service with no credit checks required. This is an attractive selling feature.鈥
The new business will also be able to repair phones, tablets, laptops and such. As well, in the near future the store will be setting up a consignment centre, and as such any used electronics may be brought to the store and sold on a consignment basis.
The new store boasts 1,000 square feet of retail space.
鈥淲e also have office space available for rent at this location,鈥 Nykolaishen added. 鈥淭here are three spaces of around 250 square feet available.鈥
Reibin is the store manager. Reg Bolland operates the repair side of the business. Shianne Stoppler is the additional fulltime employee.
鈥淲e鈥檝e been busy since the store opened earlier in October,鈥 Nykolaishen said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e had a fairly seamless startup. The repair side has been busier than anticipated, but there have been no large unforeseen difficulties.
鈥淲e are waiting on our signs to be put up out front, but inside, it鈥檚 full steam ahead.鈥
The Source opened its first retail store in Canada nearly 50 years ago. Since then it has grown into the largest and proudest Canadian tech retailer, said information on the Internet. Whether it鈥檚 smart home, smartphones, audio, gaming or computing, the Source has the expertise to help one get the most out of technology.
Kamtronics is a name that was agreed upon by all partners, and all agree they will provide clients with access to a good selection of products.
聽鈥淎s a Source Express Store, the Kamsack location will have sales on Black Friday, Cyber Monday and special promos during Boxing Week,鈥 said Nykolaishen. 鈥淲e offer all the same deals as the corporate store.鈥
