Reappointments of members to the housing authorities in Kamsack, Norquay and Hyas were recently made by the provincial department of Social Services.
At Kamsack, Charles Thomas was reappointed chair of the authority鈥檚 board of directors which includes: Marilyn Snyder, Florence Bielecki, Darlene Brown and Marilyn Lachambre.
Ruth Demetrick was reappointed to the Norquay Housing Authority board of directors, which includes Dorothy Griffith, Audrey Cherewyk, Dianne Nystrom and Dwayne Dahl, the chair.
Gwindy Westerlund was reappointed to the Hyas Housing Authority board of directors, which includes Sonia Serdachny, Dale Zawislak, Lydia Dzaman and V. Joy Fiala, the chair.
The housing authorities are community-based organizations that provide daily management of housing units constructed and operated in each of the communities under the terms of a federal-provincial-municipal cost-sharing agreement.
At Kamsack, the authority is responsible for 89 housing units; at Norquay, 30 units, and at Hyas, four units.
Donna Harpauer, minister of Social Services, paid tribute to the volunteers who manage the social housing projects in their community.
鈥淭his local hands-on approach ensures that the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation responds effectively to the needs of each community,鈥 Harpauer said.
Saskatchewan has a network of 260 housing authorities and more than 1,400 volunteer members who assist with management of housing units throughout the province for seniors, low-income families and persons with disabilities, said a release from the ministry.
Persons interested in volunteering to serve on the board of directors for the housing authorities are encouraged to contact the mayor of their communities. A local nominating committee recommends board members.
Applications for accommodation are available from the managers of the Kamsack, Norquay and Hyas housing authorities.
