On April 8 Carol Marriott, literacy co-ordinator for the provincial library and literacy office, was part of a province-wide peaceful protest held to draw attention to the severe budget cuts to library funding made by the Saskatchewan Party government in its spring budget. Reading books in front of the Kamsack Public Library to show their support for the provincial library system were Marriott and Robin Newman, a visitor from London, England, staying at Ravenheart Farms near Kamsack.
