Kamsack fire takes down part of house

At approximately 5:15 a.m. on October 18 the Kamsack Fire Chief was called to a fire at 236 Second Street in Kamsack and on arrival they found that a fire had engulfed a multi-storey house.

At approximately 5:15 a.m. on October 18 the Kamsack Fire Chief was called to a fire at 236 Second Street in Kamsack and on arrival they found that a fire had engulfed a multi-storey house. The team was sent into the building to do a search, searching both the interior and exterior of the house. The fire was contained by 12 p.m. and overhaul operations began at 3 p.m.听

鈥淚t was a 105-year-old-house made of wood materials with saw dust and asphalt over top of the cedar shingles,鈥 says fire chief Ken Thompson. 鈥淚t was difficult to overhaul but we managed to overhaul it and have the fire fully out by 3 p.m.鈥 听

There were seven fire fighters on the scene who fought the fire and got the house fire under control.听
