聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 A painter recently tried to bring joy to patients in the Canora area by providing artwork to the Canora Mental Health and Wellness Centre.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Valerie Thomas, a retired graphic artist, has created three watercolour paintings of flowers to be placed in the-newly decorated Reflections Room. The paintings were requested by Carla Pelechaty.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Thomas worked in Edmonton, but moved to Kamsack once she retired. She has lived in the town for seven years, providing paintings for others on commission. She specializes in watercolours and stained glass.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Thomas believes the most challenging thing about painting is trying to paint things realistically. She likes using bright colours, which she says makes the paintings often a blend of realistic and whimsical.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The three 16 by 20-inch paintings demonstrate her colourful style.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 hope the colours make people happy. The idea behind my paintings is that I want to bring joy to whoever gets to see them,鈥� Thomas said.
