Kamsack air cadets presented with awards following annual ceremonial review

Sgt. Keanna Romaniuk was named the most proficient cadet of the Kamsack air cadet squadron on May 18 during the cadets’ annual awards banquet. Jim Paluck presented the Duck Mountain Ambulance award to Romaniuk.

            Taryn Broda, named the most improved senior cadet, received the Dr. Davies trophy from Milton Glaicar. He also received the physical training esprit de corps award sponsored by the Kamsack RCMP from Cst. Conal Shepherd. He received the award for top drill, dress and deportment, sponsored by John Debolt, from Greg Apland of Yorkton, who is his grandfather. Apland also presented him with his certificate for having been promoted from flight sergeant to warrant officer.

Zachery Chernoff, who was named the most improved second-year cadet, received the Bernie and Isla Rink award from Norma Woodward. He was presented with the Affinity Credit Union trophy for most improved physical training by Audrey Horkoff.

            The Capt. Merv Ozirny Shield was presented by Ozirny to Madeline Wosminity. She also received the most improved instructor award from Karen Bodnaryk.

Megan Raffard, who was named the top first-year cadet, received the Royal Canadian Legion award from Jim Woodward, branch president.

            Curtis McGriskin was presented with the Glass Door Jewellery award by Betty Dix for having been the most improved first-year cadet.

            Kira Kitsch, named top second-year cadet, received the Leland Campbell award from Joe Kozakewich.

            Receiving the awards for top team curler were all members of the curling team who received awards that were sponsored by the late Frank Airriess: Kira Kitsch, Curtis McGriskin, Aidan Broda and Cade Henry-Martino.

            Kim Chernoff presented the Kamsack wildlife federation awards for top junior and senior marksmen to Connor Bodnarek and Kaitlyn Friday respectively.

            The special merit award, sponsored by former cadet Maj. Tami Marchinko (nee Bodnaryk) was presented by Karen Bodnaryk to Nicholas Bielecki.

            Judy Green presented the citizenship award, sponsored by the Legion, to Megan Raffard, Samantha Chernoff and Taryn Broda.

            Receiving awards for having top uniform marks were: Level 1, Kyler Kitsch, Megan Raffard, Curtis McGriskin, Scarlette Quewezance and Nicholas Bielecki; Level 2, Kira Kitsch, Zachery Chernoff, Aiden Broda, Connor Bodnarek and Ethan Krawetz, and Level 3, Keanna Romaniuk and Taryn Broda.
