聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jess Olson of Preeceville won the biggest fish caught at the Nelson Lake ice fishing derby on March 18. The Endeavour聽 Eagles club sponsored the first-time derby.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There were 84 pre-drilled holds with 36 northern pike caught during the derby," said Gary Jakubowski, organizer. "The weather was not bad even though the wind was pretty cold but fishermen enjoyed the derby.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭his was the first year we sponsored the event and will continue this as a yearly family event," he said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Jess Olson caught the largest fish that measured 22.5 inches. Stacey Neitling caught the second-largest fish which measured 21 and 5/8 inches. Oliver Prouse won third for his fish that measured 21.5 inches.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The first fish caught was a northern pike hauled in by Klolton Shewchuk. It had measured 19 inches.
