REGINA — Robin Kiemele felt a whirlwind of emotions after she scanned her Lotto 6/49 ticket and learned she and her husband, Ben, had won $1 million on the Saturday, April 22 draw.
“I was hysterical,” she laughed while claiming her prize in Regina. “I was happy. I was crying. I was anxious. It’s all a blur.”
Robin said she was out and about with her daughter when she scanned the ticket.
“We had just left the eye doctor and I stopped to check a couple tickets,” she said. “I scanned this one and my daughter said, ‘Mom! You won $10,000!’ I started screaming and crying right then.”
“People gathered around us, and another lady said, ‘You won $100,000!’ Then someone said it’s a million dollars – I could not believe it!”
The Ituna local said she called her husband after scanning the ticket a couple more times.
“He thought something was wrong because I really was hysterical,” she said.
When asked about their plans for their recent windfall, the Kiemeles said they have one big idea.
“We were looking at houses before we won the lottery,” Robin explained. “We have six kids and they’re getting older, so we’re getting a bigger house!”
Robin purchased the couple’s winning Lotto 6/49 ticket from Ituna AG Foods at 530 Main St. N in Ituna. Their winning Gold Ball draw selection was 26712554-04 (white ball).
