The first two months of 2016 were very eventful for students at Invermay School. Grades 6-12 students were studying hard in preparation for mid-term and final exams held from January 25 to 28.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The first two months of 2016 were very eventful for students at Invermay School. Grades 6-12 students were studying hard in preparation for mid-term and final exams held from January 25 to 28. During this week, elementary students had a blast going skating at the Invermay Arena.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On January 2 and 4 students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 went sledding down the hill across from the school. The weather cooperated and everyone had a fun time.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On February 8 elementary students stayed after school for Valentine activities put on by the SCC. Students decorated jars with Valentine colours and had fun getting messy, putting icing and sprinkles on cupcakes.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Staff and students dressed up in their fancy clothes on February 11 for a Valentine formal day. The Mr. Irresistible contest began at the beginning of the day by giving paper hearts to all of the girls in grades 6-12. If they spoke to any boys at recess or lunch, they had to give them their heart. The boy with the most hearts at the end of the day was rewarded with chocolate. The winner of the contest was Gavin Swiderski.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A dance was also held in the gym at noon. The SRC put on a movie afternoon after the dance for all the students to enjoy. Grades K-3 watched the movie Hotel Transylvania, grades 4-7 watched Goosebumps and grades 8-12 watched Jurassic World. Students were also treated with popcorn and juice during the movie.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On February 12, everyone dressed up in red-and-pink clothing to get into the Valentine鈥檚 Day spirit. The Miss Irresistible contest started in the morning, when the girls had to try getting paper hearts from the boys. At the end of the day, Miss Irresistible was Hailey Enge. In the afternoon, students in grades K-7 participated in a skate-a-thon at the Invermay Arena. They spent half of the time skating, and the other half reading books. They all had fun, and enjoyed the delicious popcorn and juice served.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The SRC was involved in the Invermay Winter Festival held February 12 to 14. Members volunteered to sell 50/50s and Toonie Toss chips at the hockey game on Friday night. The winner of the 50/50 draw was Denise Taylor, and the winner of the Toonie Toss was Jesse Grychowski. The SRC sold ice cream floats, operated the kid鈥檚 fish pond, and did face painting and tattoos on Sunday. All proceeds went to the Invermay Winter Festival.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The winter break for staff and students started on February 13. We all returned back to school on February 22.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On February 24, grades 6 to 12 students went on a ski trip to Asessippi. The next day, grades 2 to 5 went on their ski trip to Thunderhill. Everyone got lots of fresh air and had a great time going skiing, snowboarding and tubing.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Red Cross group attended We Day at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon on March 2. We Day is an annual youth empowerment event held to motivate youth to take action on local and global issues. About 15,000 students from across the province came together to attend the event. We all enjoyed listening to the inspirational speakers and watching the amazing performances.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On March 4, Invermay School held its annual carnival to raise money for Telemiracle. Each grade created, set up, and ran its game in the gym. Students had a fun time playing the games, getting tattoos, and having their faces painted.聽
