A packed audience enjoyed a special concert performed by Tayla Lynn (granddaughter of Loretta Lynn) and Tre Twitty (grandson of Conway Twitty) on October 18 in Preeceville.

Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn awed a packed audience in a once-in-a-lifetime concert in Preeceville on October 18. The Preeceville and District Health Action Committee sponsored the event.

Following in his grandfather's footsteps and a true legend in the making, Tre Twitty honours his grandfather, Conway Twitty in a heartfelt tribute that has brought tears to the eyes of many. Tre pairs up with Tayla Lynn, beloved granddaughter of Loretta Lynn covering many of the number 1 hits and beloved classics of their grandparents that will hold the audience captive, stated information from the duo鈥檚 website.

"It was so awesome to bring the grandchildren of such great country music legends to small-town Preeceville," said Stacey Strykowski, committee representative. "The audience was full of local people but also people came from Kelvington, Porcupine Plain and Melfort. It meant a lot to the band as well to do this fundraiser because they fit us into their already tight schedule. Immediately following the show, they drove all night to Winnipeg to catch a 6 a.m. flight to Texas as they had a show at 2 p.m. the next day down there. Tayla commented on the state of healthcare in her home town and mentioned she was going to do a show down there as a fundraiser as well. It was her birthday so the audience sang her happy birthday and gave her a cake," stated Strykowski.

The legendary Conway Twitty dominated the charts with 54 number 1 albums and an astonishing 55 number 1 singles throughout his career. Loretta Lynn burned up the charts with 10 number 1 albums and 16 number 1 singles in her career. The pair teamed up to create the ultimate duo in country with five number 1 hits as a pair.

Tayla Lynn and Tre Twitty have country music in their blood. The two have taken to the road to honor their grandparents in an intimate evening of music and storytelling. The duo has seen great success with their Tribute to Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty; going into their second year together, they already have at least two dozen tour dates set throughout much of North America and Canada.

Though Lynn and Twitty are singing their grandparents鈥 songs, there is no 鈥渟econd best鈥 quality to the artists. They have developed an authentic show that builds off of their family histories without attempting to simply duplicate older performances. In perfect foil to one another, Twitty takes a calm, methodical approach to his storytelling and performing, meanwhile Lynn arrives on stage, often unexpectedly, with explosive energy and heart. Trying to keep one鈥檚 eyes on Tayla Lynn is like trying to lasso a firework; guessing where she鈥檒l appear and what will come out of her mouth next is half the fun of spending an evening with her. Her joy is genuine, her energy addictive, and Twitty provides the perfect balance of steadiness in the eye of her hurricane, not unlike the way Conway Twitty related to and tempered Loretta Lynn for so many years, concluded the information.

The 50/50 draw at the concert was $650 and won by Debbie Blender.

Organizers reported that 鈥渄uring her last song, Coal Miner鈥檚 Daughter, Tayla Lynn passed a hat around the audience and brought in $1,011!鈥
