Fourteen teams compete at annual Sandy Beach slo-pitch tournament

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The annual Sandy Beach Slo-Pitch tournament northwest of Norquay was held on June 18 with 14 teams entered.

It was a beautiful hot day, perfect for sunburns and sometimes windy enough for the ball to confuse the outfielders. A Canadian flag on a new flag pole welcomed people as they entered the grounds.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Winning the A side was The Skeeters who defeated The Bomb Squad, while Where Dem Pitches At? defeated the Master Batters to top the B side.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 All the teams were of Norquay except for Charlie's Imports of Regina, Hudson Bay Rejects of Hudson Bay, Louisville Chuggers of Swan Plain and Dirty Dancers of Canora.

The rest of the teams were: Balls of Fury, Foul Balls, 小蓝视频 of 49ers, Sandy Beach Bruised Beavers, Class of '06 and the Goldless Glovers.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Two inflatable bouncing structures, sponsored by Pioneer Grain, were in continuous use by the children. Pioneer Grain also donated ice cream cups which were served to everyone free of charge. Two swings, a huge sand pile, a riding 鈥渉elicopter鈥 and an 鈥渁irplane鈥 kept the toddlers busy.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Norquay and surrounding area residents donated pies and condiments, while volunteering to work in the kitchen. There was an abundance of hamburgers, hot dogs, subs, and tacos-in-bags, as well as other foods and soft drinks.

Volunteers had removed the partition in the kitchen and served confectionery items in the same area as the rest of the food.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 As soon as it got dark, fireworks were set off.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There was a beer garden all day with a DJ playing music while people danced into the night.
